Module Three Presentation Guidelines and Rubric Are You a Real Fan?

Overview: Have you ever taken a fan quiz to see how much you know about your favorite TV shows, celebrities, games, sports, movies, music, or books? For this task, you will create a fan quiz and produce a narrated slide to present it to your classmates. You will also consider the social impact of fan quizzes and how they can be utilized professionally.

This activity allows you to practice the technical skills associated with the final multimedia presentation you will make in Module Seven. You will share your quiz presentations on the discussion topic.

Prompt: First, review Chapters 1 and 3 from your text and, using PowerPoint, create a 10-question fan quiz for a fan culture category (TV, games, movies) and fan artifact (Star Trek, Pokémon, Fight Club, etc.). Perhaps it’s a fan category and fan artifact that you are passionate about. If so, imagine that those taking your quiz are other passionate, like-minded fans of that category or artifact—and you are testing their knowledge to prove that they are a real fan!

Next, create an additional 3–4 slides in your PowerPoint presentation addressing the following in your slides (use the speaker notes to elaborate on your responses):

 Cultural and Societal Attitudes: What cultural and societal attitudes, choices, and behaviors did you have in mind when creating your fan quiz? Explain

your reasoning.

 General Education Lens: Which of the four general education lenses influenced the creation of your fan quiz? Explain.

 Social Impact: What is the social impact of the fan quiz? Explain your reasoning.

 Use: How can you utilize this fan quiz in your professional life? Provide an example or two.

 Popular/Fan Culture: How do fan quizzes impact popular culture and the creation and development of it as a commodity? Consider how popular culture creates fan culture.

Upload your PowerPoint presentation (quiz and additional narrated slides) to the discussion topic for the Module Three Presentation. Refer to the text readings and other course resources to support your responses.

PowerPoint: You are required to include a combination of text, visuals, and sound in order to support your presentation slides. Follow the instructions on the Microsoft Support page to compress your presentation as a zipped file. Upload the zipped file to the discussion topic for the Module Three Presentation. Reducing the size of the PowerPoint presentation file by compressing it makes it easier for your instructor to download and grade.

Rubric Guidelines for Submission: Your presentation should be 3–4 slides. You are required to include a combination of text, visuals, and sound in order to support your work. If you require alternative accommodations for completing this assignment, reach out to your instructor directly for more information.
